The PN Baritú (Baritú National Park) is the only tropical park of Argentina, because it has the tropic of Capricorn influence. There are several species in extintion, like the yaguarete that lives in a few zones of Las Yungas.

GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE AREA
This National Park was created in 1974. It is bordering by montainous cordons.
The Baritú National Park has a 72.000 hectare surface, and is located in the Santa Victoria Department, in the north of the Salta province. The protected area belongs to Las Yungas eco-region, which is composed by "subandinas" hills, whose heights go from 400 to 300 metres.
The climate is wet and hot, with summer rains that goes from 900 to 1300 mm.

The Baritu´s fauna is composed by several species in extintion, such as the the “ yaguareté” -that inhabits in a few zones of Las yungas-; and the “onza”.

The "cedros salteños" reach huge sizes in this region and has valious wood.

NATURAL RESOURCES
Landscapes. Flora and Fauna.
A lot of rivers cross the PN Baritú (Baritú National Park). The most important of them is the Lipeo river. The Park is the most northern of the argentinian protected areas. This Park protects the Montana jungle. There are some important species: the “ helecho arborescente” and the “maroma”. The “Maroma” can germinate over another tree (living there its first years) while grows its roots over the land.
In a few wet zones there are forests , some important species are: the “horco molle”, the “mato” and the “güili”.
The transition jungle is conformed by “tipas” , “pacaráes”, “cebiles”, “tarcos” and “cochuchos”.
In the banks there are different species: the “ tusca”, and the “trementina”, “lobito de río”, ”mayuato”, the “mirlo de agua”, the “yapú”, the “pescador grande”, parrots, toucans; “urracas”; “halcones tijereta”; and “garzas”.
There are some species in extintion dangerous: the “ yaguareté” -that inhabits in a few zones of Las yungas-, and next to the puma represent the big carnivorous of the area.Tthere are smaller felines like "tirica", "margay", "ocelote", "yaguarundi" and "gato montes".
The mammals of the region are: “ tapir”, “pecarí de collar”, “zorro de monte, “coatí”, “agutí”, “mono caí” and "murcielago pesacador grande", which eats fishes and aquatic insects.

WALKS AND SERVICES
Walks: In the northeast area of the Park there are many alternatives of walks to appreciate birds and enjoy the nature. One of them is the visit to "Termas del Cayotal", two hours far from the Foresters Center, which is located in "El Lipeo" population. Other walk is to "Campo Grande", where is possible to meet the local culture and walk around "Angosto del Río Lipeo". (It takes seven hours).
Cavalcades: Although this activity is not organized by the Park, it is possible to get animals to ride aoprund the area, both Lipeo and Baritu.

ACCESS
Visitors can get to the National Park by land leaving from from San Ramón de la Nueva Orán city, traveling around National Route Nº 50 up to Aguas Blancas locality. From there, you must drive 110 km by a bolivian beauty cornice road, up to the international bridge "El condado-La Mamora" . After 14 kilometres visitors arrive to Los Toldos locality (Argentina) through Provincial Route Nº 19. Finally, and after 26 kilometres, visitors arrive to the northwest sector of the National Park.

SUGGESTIONS
-Bring all your personal documentation and from your car to get to Los Toldos.
-The best epoque to visit the National Park goes from June to the beginning of October.
-Bring enough warm clothes.
-Don't forget repellent during the summer.
-Charge fuel in Orán o Aguas Blancas, becuase it is difficult to get it in Los Toldos.
-Before getting inside the Park ask for information about the state of the road at the Maintenance of the Park.
